Diwali Dhoom 2011 - a Dhamkedar Ending

So finally Diwali Dhoom 2011 was hosted on Oct, 22nd (Saturday) at the apartment complex.
The day started with visiting the party hall at 11 am and helping in the decorations. to be honest all I did was make sure Ritvik kept out of people's way. G helped them put up all the hand-made lanterns and other decorations.
Afternoon quickly made some methi paratha, put Ritvik to sleep and I too napped for an hour.
At 4:30 went to do hair and face-make up. Returned at 5 only to see a cranky baby, was getitng dressed, putting my bangles and Ritzu wanted to wear them too. No amount of reasoning worked and finally ahd to give him two of the bangles to wear.
Programmes were scheduled to start at 5, we reached there by 6pm.
Everyone was beautifully dressed in traditional wear.
Once the mike was set-up there was pooja and a group song.
Next was Welcome Speech by Raji.
Then the hosts myself & Alpesh introduced ourselves and announced the next segment which wa s a bharatnatyam by Ira.
A note to be added here, the mike was bad, we had to shout a lot to be heard by the already noisy public.
Next we had the lttle kids dancing
Then we had kids dance of a slightly bigger group
Followed by a Marathi Lavani Song
then came another kids dance
We had a hindi song
Then we had a marathi performance
Punjabi Folk Song
Hindi Song
Gujarati Dance
Kid Solo Dance
Mens dance

Broadmoor Diwali Function -2017

Our annual Broadmoor function is a grand event each year. This year was no less, wonderful decoration, great performances and lastly tasty and yummy food.
Preparations normally start a month in advance but this time we started it late and tried to keep it very low-key but nevertheless we had about 50 families for the function.
As I was not taking part in the dance programme I took up anchoring after a long long time.
It was fun! Me &Manvita made a good pair together.
We started at 5:30 with the Ganesh Arti, then we had the Ramayan Skit(a different program this time) , then the dance performances followed by the Ladies dance and then the food.

Diwali 2013

Wishing everyone a very Happy Diwali! This time I did nothing, not even light a diya at my place. Grandpa is not well and admitted in hospital, another sickness at sister's in-laws place so not feeling much like it either.

Sat morning we went out to get some pictures of the fall colors, came out good, noon watched movie and tried not to sleep but couldn't control and slept for 2 hrs, woke up , had tea and then a friend called as he was bursting fire-works,  took the kids down and had a fun time, made gobi paneer paratha at night.

Sun- Daylight savings started so we went back by an hour, made poha in the morning, noon had chicken curry, again decided not to nap at noon but couldnt control. By the time I woke up at 5:30 it was so dark thanks to the time change :(.
Cooked dinner of sambhar, bhendi sabji. Few friends stopped by and gave sweets.

That was our Diwali, hope all of you had a good one.

Diwali Dhamaka 2012

Diwali Dhamaka 2012 the annual Diwali function that is celeberated by us Broadmoor residents concluded on 18th Nov 2012. It was a marvellous display of talent, decoration, food and great team-work.

Preparations for the event had begun one month prior, there were regular practices for kids dance, skit, adult dance, registration and planning for food and all other activities.
We had a chart decoration competition on Nov 3rd and a kids drawing/coloring programme on Nov9th.

Nov 17th saw up putting up the decorations, the lamps created by us residents.
Nov18th morning saw other decorations and arrangements being made. I was in charge of stage seating/audio/video/photo and due to this responsibility I set up the seating arrangement.
The programme was to start at 5 pm, we had everyone come by 5:30pm and we started the pooja, this was followed by all the awesome cultural programmes that we had put up.

Finally we ended up with awesome food. After clean-up we returned home ending a fun-filled night.

Diwali - 2010

This year Diwali we decided to have a Diwali get-together at Eden prairie, not many people around, the total group consisted of about 25 people. Officially Diwali was on 5th Nov but due to high booking of party hall we got it the following week-end on 14th Nov.

Girls were requested to do a dance and so were the boys. Girls dutifully started their practise 2 weeks in advance. I was in the games team, I decided to organize Bingo/tam bola.. we also decided on Treasure hunt, had to decide on the the hiding places, the clues, organizing is quite an effort.

Finally on the d-day the program which was scheduled to start at 5 was an hour late as all the pretty ladies had to get ready in their Saree's. All looked lovely for the delay :) next was the Diwali pooja, followed by treasure hunt, it was fun to see all adults running around the whole apartment complex as kids.
After starters was the next game- pass a polo using toothpics, then was the much awaited perform aces by girls and Boys, followed by dinner and then Bingo.
After this it was dance by all which was a blast. Cleaning the hall and went back to our homes ended the great day.
