Macy's Flower Show and Circus

This Sunday the weather was predicted to be in the 60's( a perfect day for getting out)
G left in the morning for his VolleyBall practise. Me and R woke up and had a breakfast of bread/jam tea/milk and then R had his bath. I did some long time pending waxing and then took bath and got ready to go out.
We went for lunch at Bombay Bistro--had medu vada/dosa/chutney/sambhar/pani-puri/chicken tandoori/chicken biryani/goat biryani/chicken tikka masala/chicken butter masala/gulab jamun/payasam

We then went for the Macy's Flower Show. It was beautiful to see such pretty flowers, Red, Yellow, orange tulips everywhere, concentric pretty colored roses and some very colorful flowers. From there we went to the Osman Shrine Circus.
We reached at 5pm and they had set up the indoor stage for Elephant rides/pony rides/picture sessions(all with purchase of tickets). We decided to skip those and took our seats. The show began at 5:30pm.

There were lions/tigers show, elephant shows, gymnastic, trapeze artists, motor bikes stunts, poodle show, clowns, hoopla girls and many more.

The show was done by 8pm and we reached home at 8:30pm. We decided to order veggie hoagie from Davanni's for dinner.

I was too stuffed and decided to go for walk in the party hall. Since it is night time no one will be there. Baby R decided to join me. I told him he will get bored as there wont be any kids but he still decided to come.
He asked me how many rounds I wanted to make. Initially I thought of saying 10 then mentioned 15 thinking he will trouble me.
but he walked all the 15 rounds with me counting each round and never once complained.
I was sleepy with the long day but he was quite energetic and after 15 rounds we went back home to cuddle and sleep.

Saturday after waking up in the morning and having chai and bread toast we went out to the Honda showroom. One of the back seats in the new car had some leather coming out and we wanted to get a cost estimate to fix it.
While returning we went to both Indian stores and got some veggies and other stuff.
I quickly made lunch of Mango lauki dal and avarkya thoran.
Then me and R had to go for a bday party of one of his school friends.
It was scheduled form 3:30 - 5:30 pm. We reached there by 3:40 as I entered a wrong lane and had to re-route. The kids were jumping and playing for 1 hour and then there was cake blowing and pizza.

They had about 20 cup cakes and cream on top that way you nee dnot cut the cake just give each kid a cupcake.
We returned home by 5:30 and then I was so tired I napped for an hour.
Then I went out for some half hour walking, met some friends did some guppa and returned home by 10:00 pm

It was a little dry because the amount of ghee I used was less but who is complaining.

The game room in our apartment is having the ceiling fixed due to which it is closed and since they guys couldn't go and hang out there we played 5 cards (2 games) and I won both times :)

Had dinner of chapati, egg burji, bittergourd pachadi and some rice.

100 Happy Days: Day 18

Last Friday I called over R's friends for a sleep over. I ordered pizza, the kids came by 8:30 pm, we did some drawing for some time and then they were playing with toys, by 9:30 pm we got pizza and had them and then watched TV for some time.
By 10:30 I asked them to go to bed. 2 of them slept but my baby and one other kid did not want to sleep, they were awake till 1 at night, midnight they were hungry and had juice and some left over pizza.
They were so energetic even at that point of time. Finally at 1:30 I had to get them into bed and R got a yelling from me, after which he cried and went to sleep.

He woke up at 5:30 as he was feeling cold and I had to wake up and put his bedsheet over and then I could not sleep as one parent was going to come at 8, long time later I dozed and sharp at 8 the kids woke up and then there was no sleep. I made some pancakes for breakfast and made some tea for me.

Kids left by 11:00 after which I made lunch and then took a long nap.

100 Happy Days: Day17

We got a 2008 model Honda Odyssey yesterday. What with parents visiting for summer we needed a 7 seater car. We parted ways with our 2008 Honda Accord which was the first car we purchased when we got to Eden Prairie in 2008 and in exchange got another Honda.

R was not very excited to get a big car, he wants a small and fast car but when we went to the Dealer and he saw the car he was impressed.
We all went to the dealers at 4 yesterday and by the time we got back it was 7:30.
I quickly made appam and potato stew and then went fo rmy walk.

Night tried to watch 'Jai Ho' but it was really beyong my thinking so switched off and went to bed.
Somehow we did not hear the alarm and woke up only at 9 am. What with the time change that is our original 8 am so our body woke us up at the correct time

:)

100 Happy Days: Day16

So if you remember this post that I had written a month back when we had enrolled our son in a new swimming school. He was put in the Little 1 category. For the first 2 sessions, he would not put his face in the water. I still remember one session where in for 25 mins from the total 30 mins session that we have the instructur asked him to put his face in the water and he refused.
Instructor: Ok, put your face in the water
Son: NO, I don't want to
I: You don't have to want to, you have to do it.
Son: No

and this kept on repeating until the last 5 mins when he did put his face in the water for some time. The instructor asked us to practise putting his face in the bath-tub so that he gets used to.
I did not compel my son but as soon as we returned home he himself filled the tub and put his face in the water and then there was no stopping, he was always ready to put his face in the water(not for a long time) but for 2-3 minutes atleast.

At this time they were enrolling for the next Spring session and the instructor asked us to repeat him in Level1. Hubby was not very happy and we decided to ask them again. Last week was his last session and before i could ask his instructur he himself told us that we could enroll our baby in the next level as he has shown a lot of improvement.

So yeaaaaaaaaaaaah, our son is now in Little 2.
Way to go baby!

100 Happy Days: Day 14

So what made me happy today. My cooking as usual. I tried this receipe from here as I had got some eggplants 2 days back. I made my usual kale leaves dal with it and with the fried eggplants as a side dish it was very yummy.

Usually evenings after cooking I go to the party hall to do some walking but nowadays no one seems to be coming, it gets boring walking alone so I am thinking of switching my time to late nites after dinner as I might get some company then.

Let's see

100 Happy Days: Day 13

As I must have mentioned in my recent posts am too much into cooking nowadays.
We got lazy over the week-end and did not go to Indian store for getting groceries and as such I did not have much vegetables to cook over the week-end and had to improvise with what I had.

A quick search over the food blogs and I came across some yummy Veg manchurian gravy which I prepared for dinner with some yummy fried rice.

It was truly satisfying.

100 Happy Days: Day 12

This Saturday there was a kids workshop at our nearby HomeDepot. Me and R went there in the morning by 9:30 am. The kids were given a apron and some pieces in a plastic cover. They were supposed to make a Trojan horse. There were 4-5 tables laid out with safety glasses, hammer and a screw-driver. Kids were hammering and having fun.

We started work on the different parts and R had great fun hammering here and there. It took us about 15-20 mins for us to get it done and then we went to the paint are and painted our horse red in color.

Unfortunately I lost R's cap and my water bottle there :( , back home hubby cooked yummy pulav so all I did was watch TV and in the evening went to Casino, played for 2 hrs, no profit, no loss and then had a good night's rest.

100 Happy Days: Day 11

Happiness is more of content for me i.e to be content with what I have.
Nowadays I started watching this new serial "House of Cards" and as I am the only one watching it, I can watch it whenever I get the TV to myself and that menas I find means to reach home early from office just to get 1 episode but that also means that I will get over all the episodes and will have to wait for ages for the new ones to come out.

Happiness is also cooking for me. I made some yummy delicious healthy spinach pakoda yesterday and had it with garam chai.
